Student Acknowledgement
The Student acknowledges that prior to accepting this Written Agreement they have been provided with access to, and have had the opportunity to review:

- Fee Schedule
- Privacy Policy
- Relevant Student Support information
The Student acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to seek independent advice before accepting this Written Agreement. Failure to comply with applicable student obligations, policies and procedures may result in intervention, suspension, cancellation of enrolment or other actions permitted by this Written Agreement and applicable legislation, by Australian Language Schools Pty Ltd (ALS).
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, ALS is not liable for loss, damage, illness or injury arising from circumstances outside its reasonable control. Students are solely responsible for arranging their own insurance, which we recommend be purchased in their home country.

Photography Release
Photos or images taken by or for ALS staff during school activities remain the property of ALS and may be used for promotional materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or videotaped, please notify ALS in writing as soon as possible.
Contact Details
Students must notify ALS within 5 working days of any changes to their residential address, mobile number, email or emergency contact via the student portal. Failure to do so may affect the student's compliance with visa requirements and may result in reporting obligations under the ESOS framework.
Personal Information
Personal information is treated as confidential but may be shared with the Australian Government, the Department of Home Affairs, other designated authorities (such as the TPS), sponsors, or educational agents as required by law or by your enrolment arrangement.
Written Agreements
Students are responsible for keeping a copy of all documentation.
Orientation
All students must attend orientation at the scheduled time before commencing study. Failure to attend orientation will require the student to complete a private orientation session. A fee of $50 applies.
How to Request a Refund
- Complete the Request For Refund Form (download from www.alscollege.com.au) with supporting documents (e.g. DHA letter, bank details) and submit to [email protected].
- A refund is only payable once ALS has received and receipted the payment and all debts to ALS have been cleared.
- Refunds are paid in Australian currency within 4 weeks of receiving the completed form and all required documentation.
- All refunds are paid to the student only, unless formally sponsored or paid by an agent (an authorisation letter is required).
- OSHC refunds must be requested directly from your OSHC provider.
- Promotional discounts are not applicable in any refund case.
Refund Categories
These categories apply to each and every course enrolled in.
Admin fee: $300 per course. Tuition, Material and Airport Reception Fees refunded. Enrolment, Payment Plan and Accommodation Placement Fees not refunded.
Admin fee: $300 per course. Unused Tuition and Material Fees refunded. Enrolment, Payment Plan and Accommodation Placement Fees not refunded.
Admin fee: $350 per course. Tuition, Material and Airport Reception Fees refunded. Enrolment, Payment Plan and Accommodation Placement Fees not refunded.
Admin fee: $1,200 (first course) / $350 (subsequent courses). Tuition, Material and Airport Reception Fees refunded only if more than 48 hours' notice is given. Enrolment, Payment Plan and Accommodation Placement Fees not refunded. Administrative fees represent costs associated with enrolment processing, admissions assessment, agent commissions, course allocation, student administration and associated business costs.
- Vocational courses: Refunds are generally not available after course commencement except as required by law, provider default provisions, Australian Consumer Law or where otherwise stated in this Written Agreement.
- ELICOS (24 tuition weeks or shorter): Refunds are generally not available after course commencement except as required by law, provider default provisions, Australian Consumer Law or where otherwise stated in this Written Agreement.
- ELICOS (25+ tuition weeks with 12+ weeks remaining): A flat refund of $1,500.
Where ALS suspends or cancels a student's enrolment due to Student Default — including non-payment of fees, breach of student visa conditions, unsatisfactory attendance, unsatisfactory course progress, misconduct, serious misconduct or exclusion under ALS policies — any refund entitlement will be determined in accordance with this Written Agreement.
ALS may retain fees for training and assessment already delivered, materials supplied, administrative costs incurred and other services already provided. Any remaining refund entitlement will be determined in accordance with this Written Agreement, applicable legislation and the Australian Consumer Law.
Change of Start Date
- First change: no charge.
- Each subsequent change: $40 admin fee.
- Any refund request after a start-date change will be treated as Category 4, except in the case of visa refusal.
Transfer Penalty Fees
Applies to transfers between courses (tuition/material fee differences are separate).

* $500 applies when transferring from Cambridge courses only.
Failure to Commence
ALS will manage student defaults in accordance with ESOS reporting obligations and applicable legislation.
Pre-requisites
All courses require minimum levels of English, age and prior study as listed on the website. Students who do not meet requirements will be offered an alternative course; any fee differences are the student's responsibility. ALS is not responsible for the actions, omissions or services provided by independent third-party providers.
Course Cancellation by ALS
If ALS is unable to deliver a course, a full refund of unused tuition fees, material fees and enrolment fees will be made within 14 days. An alternative course may be offered at no extra cost; the choice between a refund and an alternative must be made in writing.
Complaints & Appeals
Submit complaints in person (to your trainer or at reception) or by email to [email protected]. ALS will respond within 10 working days and inform you of the outcome in writing. If unsatisfied, you may escalate to an external body such as the Student Ombudsman. Submitting a complaint does not affect your enrolment.
This agreement does not limit any rights a student may have under Australian Consumer Law.
Student Responsibilities
By accepting this Written Agreement, the Student agrees to:
- Comply with all conditions of their visa.
- Maintain accurate contact details and notify ALS of any changes within seven (7) days.
- Attend scheduled classes and participate in learning activities.
- Make satisfactory academic progress.
- Pay all fees by the due dates stated in this Agreement.
- Comply with the ALS Student Code of Conduct, Student Handbook, and all published policies and procedures.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that does not endanger the safety, wellbeing, or learning of other students or staff.
Student Default
A Student is considered to be in default where the Student:
- withdraws from a course before completion;
- fails to commence on the agreed commencement date;
- breaches a condition of their student visa;
- fails to maintain satisfactory attendance or course progress where required;
- fails to pay fees in accordance with this Agreement;
- provides false, misleading, or incomplete information;
- engages in misconduct or serious misconduct;
- breaches the Student Code of Conduct or other ALS policies where suspension or cancellation of enrolment is an available consequence;
- has their enrolment cancelled under applicable legislation.
Suspension or Cancellation of Enrolment
ALS may suspend or cancel a Student's enrolment where permitted by the ESOS Act, National Code, Standards for RTOs, or other applicable legislation.
Prior to any suspension or cancellation, ALS will provide the Student with written notification and access to the applicable complaints and appeals processes, except where immediate action is required by law or where serious misconduct has occurred.
Refunds Following Student Default
Where a Student withdraws, is suspended, or has their enrolment cancelled due to Student Default, refund entitlements will be assessed in accordance with the Refund Policy contained in this Written Agreement.
ALS may retain:
- fees for training and assessment already delivered;
- fees for services already provided;
- non-refundable fees identified in this Agreement;
- reasonable administrative costs incurred in processing the enrolment, withdrawal, suspension, cancellation, or refund.
Refunds will not be calculated by reference to policies, handbooks, or procedures that are not expressly incorporated into this Written Agreement.
Attendance and Course Progress
Students are required to meet attendance and course progress requirements applicable to their course and visa conditions.
Failure to maintain satisfactory attendance or course progress may result in intervention, reporting, suspension, or cancellation of enrolment in accordance with legislation and ALS policies.
Where enrolment is cancelled due to attendance or course progress issues, any refund entitlement will be determined under the Refund Policy contained in this Written Agreement.
Breach of Student Visa Conditions
Where a Student's enrolment is cancelled due to a breach of student visa conditions, refund entitlements will be assessed under the Refund Policy contained in this Written Agreement.
This provision does not apply where the Student withdraws as a result of a student visa refusal.
Refunds arising from student visa refusal will be assessed under the Visa Refusal provisions of this Written Agreement and applicable legislation.
Misconduct
ALS may suspend or cancel a Student's enrolment for misconduct or serious misconduct.
Where enrolment is cancelled due to misconduct, any refund entitlement will be determined under the Refund Policy contained in this Written Agreement.
ALS may retain fees relating to training, assessment, materials, accommodation placement, airport transfer services, or other services already provided.
